We have always been fascinated by improbable things. The rare alignment of planets. A comet that shows up once in a lifetime. Two strangers turning up in the same place at the same moment.

Maybe timing is everything. The rarest thing in the universe is not a comet. It is meeting the right person at the right time.

So we started reading the sky for the night it happened. Every wedding begins with an impossible sequence of events, and working out how many of them had to line up for this one is the closest anyone comes to seeing their own odds.

If any of that has ever crossed your mind on a clear night, this was made for you. Everything else follows from there: it is all designed in New Zealand, inside the Aoraki Mackenzie dark sky reserve, under one of the darkest skies in the world.
