Cookies

A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to keep. Some are needed for the shop to work at all. Others tell us how the shop is used, or let us measure advertising. This page lists what we set, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind.

Essential And Functional

These keep the shop working and remember the basics of how you are shopping. Without them the shop does not function, so they are not optional.

_shopify_essential. Keeps your session secure and your basket attached to you. Lasts until you close your browser.

localization. Remembers the country you are shopping from, so prices and shipping are shown for the right place. Lasts one year.

cart_currency. Remembers the currency your basket is priced in. Lasts two weeks.

Analytics

These tell us how many people visit, which pages they read and where they arrive from. We use this to decide what to make and what to write. They do not tell us who you are.

_shopify_y. Tells one visitor from another, so that visits can be counted. Lasts one year.

_shopify_s. Tells one visit from another. Lasts thirty minutes.

Marketing

These let us measure advertising: whether someone who saw an advertisement later came to the shop, and whether a visit led to an order. We advertise on Meta, which covers Facebook and Instagram. When advertising measurement is switched on for this shop, it runs through a Meta pixel connected in Shopify's own settings, which puts it under the choice you make below. Allow marketing cookies and it loads. Refuse, and it does not.

Your Choice, And Where It Is Kept

_shopify_analytics and _shopify_marketing hold the choice you made about the two groups above. They last until you close your browser, and the choice itself is remembered for your device.

You can change your choice at any time on our Your Privacy Choices page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and every browser lets you do this. If you block the essential ones, parts of the shop stop working, and checkout is one of them.

Blocking analytics and marketing cookies does not stop you buying anything, and it does not change your rights.

Who Else Can Read Them

Our shop runs on Shopify, and the cookies listed above are set by Shopify on our behalf. Advertising measurement involves Meta. Both are outside New Zealand, and how we handle data that leaves the country is set out in our privacy policy.

Changes

The list above describes the shop as it is on the date at the top of this page. If we add or remove a tool that sets cookies, we update this page and change that date.
